여러 조사기관들은 주기적으로 스코틀랜드의 독립에 대한 스코틀랜드인의 여론을 조사하고 있다. [[스코틀랜드 분리독립 투표]]와 [[브렉시트]] 투표가 그랬던 것처럼 독립 찬성과 독립 반대의 차이가 적고, [[제58회 영국 총선]] 이후에는 찬성 우위 현상이 나타나고 있다. 또한 스코틀랜드 정부가 영국 정부에 비해 [[코로나19]] 방역을 잘했다는 평을 받으면서, 독립 찬성 비율이 조금 더 올랐다.([[https://n.news.naver.com/article/052/0001472430|#]]) 영국 정부 역시 이러한 여론조사 결과를 모르는 것은 아니기 때문에 알렉스 새먼드 전 SNP 대표의 "[[https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-51120175|한 세대에 한 번 있을 독립 투표]]"라는 발언을 인용하며 재투표를 [[https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-55521732|거부]]하고 있다. 마지막 [[스코틀랜드 분리독립 투표]]는 2014년에 있었다. 2021년 5월 이후에는 반대가 근소하게 앞서는 현상이 많이 나오고 있다.
