포르투나에서는 지질학자, 역사가, 골동품 상인을 자처하지만, 젊은 시절에는 코퍼스의 과학자 시고어 사바의 연구 조수로써 활동했었다. 그는 자신의 모든 것을 버리면서까지 VK-7을 살리려고 한 시고어 사바에게 감화되어, 시고어 사바와 VK-7의 탈출을 도와주었다,

• 약간 꼰대 끼가 있는지 벤트키드들이나 렉스는 그를 좋아하지 않는다. 반대로 스모크핑거 본인은 렉스를 자기 제자로 삼고 싶어한다.
