>양쯔강 삼각주에 위치한 난징은 수천 년 동안 중국과 전 세계에서 가장 크고 중요한 도시 중 하나였습니다. 여러 이름이 쓰이다 14세기 후반 명 왕조 때 난징('남쪽 수도')이라는 이름으로 불렸습니다. 난징은 명나라의 수도였으며 태평천하를 비롯한 중국 역사를 거치면서 몇몇 작은 국가의 수도가 되었습니다.

>동중국해의 내륙 쪽에 위치한 난징은 주요 무역항입니다. 영락제 재임 기간에 대규모 원정 함대가 구축되어 난징의 부두를 떠났습니다. 정화 제독이 이끈 이 함선들은 일곱 번의 '보물 탐사' 원정에서 굉장히 먼 거리를 항해했습니다. 난징은 또한 영곡탑, 석두성 등 수많은 건축물과 자연경관을 보유하고 있습니다.
