>2차 세계대전이 끝나갈 무렵, 무거운 박격포의 기동성을 높일 방법을 연구했던 일본 제국군은 치토 중형전차의 개량형 차대에 300mm 중박격포를 장착한 4식 하토 중박격포의 시제 차량을 개발했습니다. 하토 중박격포는 유효 사거리가 약 3km에 달했지만, 포신이 무거워 50도 이상 포각을 올리면 차체가 전복되었으며 비용이 비싸고 일본 군부가 당시 개발 중인 다연장 로켓으로 관심을 돌린 탓에 단 4대의 시제 차량만 생산되었습니다.

>Towards the end of World War II, the Imperial Japanese Army investigated ways to make mortars more mobile due to their considerable weight. The Type 4 Ha-To was a prototype built to accomplish this by attaching a 300mm heavy mortar to the modified body of a Chi-To medium tank. The mortar had an effective range of 1.9 miles, but could not be elevated more than 50 degrees to prevent the vehicle from tipping over. Only a total of four of these prototypes were ever built due to their expensive cost and a shift in focus towards the evolving multiple rocket launcher.
