미국의 퓨전 재즈, 플라멩코 기타 연주자.
버클리 음악대학을 졸업했으며 19세에 칙 코리아의 밴드 리턴 투 포에버의 기타리스트로 활동을 시작하였다. 알 디 미올라가 기타리스트로 참여한 리턴 투 포에버의 No Mystery 앨범은 1975년도에 그래미상을 수상했다.
80년대와 90년대에 기타리스트 존 맥러플린, 파코 데 루시아와 함께 앨범 제작과 공연을 하였으며 현재 솔로 아티스트로 활동중이다.
2018년도에 버클리 음악대학에서 명예 박사 학위를 수여 받았다.
테오 샤르파흐의 커스텀 플라멩코 기타를 사용 중이다.
