The Velvet Underground & Nico의 7번째 트랙으로 수록된 곡이다.
1964년 루 리드가 픽윅 레코드의 작곡가로 일했을때 작곡되었다. 대중음악 역사상 최초로
마약을 노골적으로 묘사한 곡으로 수많은 논란을 낳았다. 이 전까지
버즈의 Eight Miles High같이 마약 복용을 은유적으로 암시한 곡은 존재했지만 이 곡처럼 '헤로인은 내 아내이고 인생이다.'라며 직접적으로 표현한 곡은 없었다. 1965년 7월, 1966년 4월에 초기 녹음이 이루어졌지만 최종 버전은 1966년 5월 TTG 스튜디오에서 녹음되었다. 루 리드의 조용한 기타 아르페지오로 시작되면서 존 케일의 일렉트릭 비올라가 분위기를 고조시킨다. 절정에 다다른 분위기는 후반부에 들어서 불협화음으로 이어지며
노이즈로 뭉개지며 곡이 마무리된다.
