메시지가 너무나 직접적인 곡이라 공개 당시에는 진부 하다거나 LGBT 팬덤을 상업적으로 이용한다는 비평도 있었지만, 결과적으로는 걸출한 메시지 송으로 자리매김하였다. Born This Way보다 히트한 곡들도 있지만 평화, 사랑, 평등을 지향 하는 레이디 가가의 노선에 가장 적합해 대표곡으로 여겨지고는 한다.
