2집의 3번째 싱글. UK 싱글 차트에서 10위를 달성했다.
브릿팝을 정의하는 노래들 중 하나이며
Song 2와 함께 2012년 재발매 당시 다시 차트 인한 유이한 싱글이다(Song 2는 74위).
가사가 구어체로 이루어진 게 큰 특징이다. 영화
콰드로페니아에서 주연을 맡았었던 배우 필 대니얼스가 주연을 맡았는데 피처링이 아닌가라고 생각할 수 있겠지만 피처링이 맞다. 라이브에서도 피처링이라 쓰고 일반적으로도 피처링이라고 이야기 되는데 싱글이나 앨범 크레딧에는 출연진(Starring)으로 표시되어있다.
필 대니얼스는 "The Debt Collector"에 들어갈 시를 낭송하기로 예정되어 있었지만 데이먼은 그가 좋아할 만한 시를 찾지 못해서 합주곡으로 대체되었다. 대신 "Parklife"의 리드 보컬을 맡게 된다.

그레이엄 콕슨에 따르면 영국스러움을 찬양하기 보다는 비꼬는 곡이라고 하며 노동 계급보다는 스튜디오를 가는 길에 매일 봤었던 비둘기, 환경 미화원, 조깅하는 사람들과 같은 공원 계급의 사람들이 하고 싶은 것을 제대로 알고 즐기는 것에 대한 노래라고 한다.

수상하면서 갤러거 형제가 부르기도 했는데, 리암은 Shitlife로, 노엘은
마마이트(...)로 바꿔불렀다.
