1 . 개요[편집]

'Plastic Hearts'는 2020년 11월 27일 발매된 마일리 사이러스의 일곱 번째 정규 앨범이다.

본래 마일리는 2019년 'SHE IS COMING', 'SHE IS HERE', 'SHE IS EVERYTHING'으로 이어지는 'She Is Miley Cyrus' 삼부작 프로젝트를 계획하고 있었다. 그러나 캘리포니아 산불 사태, 리암 헴스워스와의 이혼, 코로나 19 등 여러 가지 복잡한 일이 겹치면서 해당 프로젝트는 엎어졌다. 결국 'SHE IS COMING'을 발매한 지 1년 넘는 시간이 지나서야 'Plastic Hearts'라는 이름의 정규 7집이 발매되었다.

2 . 발매 과정[편집]

2020년 8월 14일 리드 싱글 Midnight Sky가 발매되었다. 그러면서 'She Is Miley Cyrus' 프로젝트 취소를 공식화했다.#

2020년 9월 29일, 'Heart of Glass'가 'Midnight Sky'의 B-side 형식으로 발매되었다.

2020년 10월 23일, 차기 앨범의 이름이 'Plastic Hearts'가 될 것이라 밝혔다. 11월 27일에 발매될 예정이라고 한다.
- 같은 날 'Zombie'가 앨범의 프로모셔널 싱글로 발매되었다.

2020년 11월 19일 이 앨범의 두 번째 싱글 'Prisoner'가 공개되었다. 두아 리파의 피쳐링으로 발매 전부터 꽤 화제를 모았다.

2021년 3월 8일 Angels Like You가 세 번째 싱글로 발매되었다.

상세 내용

발매 후 평가는 매우 긍정적이다. 메타크리틱 점수는 75점으로 역대 최고 점수를 갱신했고[2][3], 유저 스코어는 9.0점이다.

다소 부진한 상업적 성과와 달리 음악적 평가는 역대급으로 좋으며 한나 몬타나 시절의 이미지를 탈피하여 노이즈 마케팅의 절정이었던 Bangerz 앨범 시기를 지나고 소위 캐릭터빨이 많이 꺼진 상태에서 발매한 컨트리 장르의 Younger Now, 일렉트로 팝 장르의 EP 앨범 She Is Coming에서 큰 반응을 이끌어내지 못했던 마일리가 록커로서의 모습을 어필하면서 새로운 돌파구를 찾았다는 평이 대부분이다.

4 . 성적[편집]

첫 주 6만 유닛으로, 빌보드 200 2위로 데뷔했다. Bangerz 이후 빌보드 200 차트 최고 기록이고, Younger Now에 비해 첫 주 판매량도 높다. 최근 부진하던 성적에서 반등에 성공했으며, 이러한 분위기는 다음 앨범 Endless Summer Vacation으로 이어졌다. 앨범 발매일이 블랙 프라이데이와 겹치면서 앨범의 유통에 차질이 빚어지기도 했다.

Plastic Hearts는 2021년 5월 기준 미국에서 발매 이후 40만 유닛 정도가 판매되었다고 한다. #

2020년 11월 19일 발매된 해당 앨범의 두 번째 싱글. 이후 두아 리파의 Future Nostalgia: The Moonlight Edition에도 수록되었다.

디스코 팝~글램 록 장르로, 'Future Nostalgia' 시기 두아 리파가 선보인 디스코에 마일리의 록을 접목시킨 듯한 곡이다.

두아 리파의 피쳐링으로 발매 전부터 꽤나 화제를 모았지만, 빌보드 핫 100 54위에 그치는 등 상업적으로 부진했다.

본래 마일리와 두아 리파의 콜라보 소식은 2019년 말부터 들려 왔으나, 2020년 말이 되어서야 Prisoner가 발매되었다. 원래 만들었던 곡이 한 번 엎어졌기 때문인데, 마일리는 인터뷰에서 두 사람의 개성을 모두 존중해 줄 수 있는 곡을 찾느라 시간이 좀 걸렸다고 언급했다.

본래 마일리가 숀 멘데스와 부르려고 했다는 이야기가 있다. 숀 멘데스가 부른 Prisoner의 데모 일부가 유출된 적 있는데, 마일리가 직접 언급한 바는 없다.
