아이다의 넘버이다.
팀 라이스가 작사,
엘튼 존이 작곡했다.
작중 라다메스의 아버지이자 이집트의 수상인 조세르는 파라오를 서서히 중독시켜 죽이고 있는데, 라다메스가 원정에서 돌아온 지 얼마 지나지 않아 곧 다시 전장으로 떠나고자 하자 자신의 계획을 돕기 위해 이집트에 머무르길 권유하며 파라오가 곧 죽게 될 것임을 말해준다. 아들 라다메스를 새로운 파라오로 세우고 왕권의 실세를 쥐고자 하는 조세르의 야심이 드러나는 곡이다.
조세르의 수하로 등장하는 남성 앙상블들의 칼군무와 화려한 조명이 큰 볼거리로 꼽힌다.
뮤지컬 넘버를 작업하던 1996년 작곡했다. 엘튼 존은 미국 조지아주 애틀랜타의 퍼플 드래곤 스튜디오에서 데모를 녹음했지만 발매하지 않았다.
1999년 콘셉트 앨범
Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida에서는
스팅이 엘튼 존의 데모처럼
레게로 불렀다. 자메이카 킹스턴의 뮤직 워크스 레코딩 스튜디오에서 2일간 녹음되었고, 미국 펜실베이니아주 컨쇼호켄의 브리지 사운드 스튜디오에서도 녹음되었다. 자메이카의 음악 듀오 '슬라이 & 로비'가 참여하여 스팅과 함께 프로듀싱을 맡았다. 스팅은 엘튼 존이 녹음한 곡과 거의 동일하지만 자신의 곡처럼 만들기 위해 후렴의 몇 부분을 변경했다고
빌보드 인터뷰에서 설명했다.
